Sophia wanted to be smart about financial planning and decided to get started early.
“I’m a recent college graduate and certified public accountant. I live and work in New York City. I decided early on that I want to be smart about my financial life and knew I needed to learn more about financial planning. My college professors always talked about diversification but I needed to learn more about what that meant for me. I decided to read many different books and magazines about financial planning and wealth accumulation. The more I learned, the more I realized how important it was to have a big picture, not just think about the short-term.”

Sophia discovered the complete benefits and value of life insurance.
“After all of my research, I came to understand the foundational elements of life insurance — and really liked the features of permanent life insurance that made it easy to build cash value over time, as opposed to the advanced investment products that seemed a bit more challenging for a novice. I decided life insurance, together with my 401(k), would be the best starting point to help me begin saving in a smart manner.”

Determined to find the best insurance partner, Sophia took her research to the next level.
“The company itself was very important to me and I wanted a partner that focused primarily on life insurance — just like if you needed surgery, you would want a specialist in that area. I went online and researched numerous companies and really liked Penn Mutual — they are focused on life insurance, which was a huge plus. I also liked their ratings and long history of strength.”

Sophia decided it was time to reach out to a financial professional.
“Once I knew life insurance made a lot of sense for me, I decided to do it right and talk with a financial professional — I wasn’t going to buy something so important online. That’s how I met Larry Barth. From our first conversation, Larry was open, honest, knowledgeable and friendly. Above all, Larry was not a slick product pusher like some of the sales people I interviewed at other companies. I really believe every financial representative is a direct reflection of the company, and Larry’s expertise, attitude and willingness to share information and help me really said a lot about Penn Mutual as a company. I have a great combination in Larry and Penn Mutual.”

Sophia and Larry took the time to think through current needs and future dreams to align the right plan.
“Together, we talked about my current needs and future dreams. Larry helped me learn more about policy options and solutions. He showed me all sides of life insurance and helped me get started with a life insurance-first strategy that is designed to build cash value and help me achieve my long-term goals, while not having to think and worry about it on a daily basis.”

Sophia is on the right path to create a world of possibilities for all stages of her life.
“It’s nice to know my life insurance can potentially help fund my wedding one day, maybe a house, even my future kids’ college funds…basically anything. But for now, I’m just as happy to know I have an emergency fund. It all comes back to my big picture. I feel like I am on the right financial path and would advise any young people that asked me that they should learn more about what life insurance can do for them.”

Accessing policy cash values may result in surrender fees and charges, may require additional premium payments to maintain coverage, and will reduce the death benefit and policy values.
